Environmental policy
As a housebuilder, we have some weighty responsibilities to bear. We understand that our work has a significant impact upon the environment both on the communities in which we work and on those further afield that are affected by the sourcing and manufacture of the materials we use. So we aim to minimise adverse impacts while taking steps to protect and enhance the natural environment for future generations.
We work closely with the Environment Agency, planners, industry bodies, subcontractors and suppliers to develop initiatives on environmental management including land regeneration, reducing pollution and waste minimisation.
Creating communities
Our work isn’t just about building homes it’s about shaping safe, pleasant and sustainable communities that are made up of well-designed, attractive homes. It’s our additional responsibility to work with care and consideration throughout the planning and building process. Our goal is to minimise disturbance to people living near our developments.
Protecting the environment
At Laing Homes, we take our environmental responsibilities seriously, so many of our initiatives go beyond what we are required to do by law. By taking steps to reduce the impact of our work on the environment, we can play a positive part in protecting it for the future.
During the construction process, we keep our use of toxic and hazardous materials to an absolute minimum and seek to use environmentally preferable materials from sustainable sources wherever possible. For instance, the vast majority of our timber comes from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) accredited sources.
However, good environmental practice isn’t just about being a conscientious housebuilder it’s also about creating modern and efficient homes. We always design homes for our customers with sustainability and energy efficiency in mind.
